Bringing Microtransactions to Doom

What a terrifying prospect…

Above is a tweet from a very silly software developer, Guy Dupont, who decided to create a fun mod that added microtransactions into the original DOOM… no I’m not kidding.

It runs as a type of silly proof of concept system that links in-game progress with QR codes that let you pay money for picking up weapons or items in the game. The funny thing is though that this type of system would be seen as an absolute gold mine for greedy producers that want to jam in as many microtransactions as possible into a game. As such, while this may be a silly video to show off a proof of concept now, the very idea no doubt could cross a particularly nasty person’s mind to try and put this in an actual title. Hopefully this just stays as an concept idea for internet view for now… but it’s humanity so anything is possible.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
