Emulation to the Rescue!

Cheers epsxe!

Emulators are somewhat of a taboo subject for those who write about video games due to the very nature of how they allow people to play games without ever purchasing them. I however am of the mind that emulators are always good for the industry as it allows us to play games that we normally wouldn’t have access too and most likely aren’t making much (if any) money for the developers anymore due to their age.

This situation is actually relevant to me currently. After buying an original copy of The Misadventures of Tron Bonne for PS1 I was excited to finally play one of my most favourite games of all time. However it was a pre-owned copy and as a result the game didn’t work and it turns out the disc was scratched quite badly. Eventually however after my girlfriend bought me the kind gift of a PS2 controller adapter for my PC I could finally play the game I was waiting so long to try out by just emulating it on my PC.

Not only was the game actually running now but it also looked slightly better thanks to emulator graphical settings and it ran much faster with a smoother framerate thanks to the increased power of my PC. The only downside is the fact that I have to play it on my monitor but if I simply took the time to change up my setup slightly I could have it connected to my TV too, negating that problem. Overall emulation has allowed me to enjoy a game that I already bought but didn’t work so in my eyes I see no problem with it and I look forward to playing Tron Bonne even more!

What are all of your thoughts on emulation and the legality of it? Be sure to let us know by commenting below! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
