Oculus Shift-y Business

Oh dear...
Oh dear…

So Oculus has had some shady things going on in their terms of service regarding the device. No doubt this is a direct intervention from Facebook, applying their own policies and information gathering practices to the device considering they bought out the company.

The first point is that anything developed for the device, including software developed by third parties, can be used by Oculus or Facebook whenever they wish and even if the creator of said content directly opposes its use. Secondly Oculus can gather certain pieces of information from you when you use the device, including some rather personal pieces of info you probably don’t want a company having access to. Finally they can then use that said information to send you directed corporate and marketed messages in order to try to make you buy or try out things.

Indeed it’s all a bit shady, and people are really going to want to pay attention to this if they want to use the device as it could land you in a lot of hot water if you’re not careful. So what do you all think of this? Share in the comments! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
