Communication in Online Games

Ahh… multi-language breeding grounds…

Communication in online games, especially MMO’s, is incredibly important to the survival of a game that focuses on its community or players. Many players who still dive into World of Warcraft don’t even go into the game for the gameplay itself but instead for the community that has been built around the virtual world and all the friends that players have made when questing and adventuring.

Even games just with online capabilities like Minecraft have the capacity to create lasting friendships and bitter rivalries. I remember making a few friends on Minecraft back a long time ago and I still talk to some of them today even though I don’t ever play Minecraft much anymore. I guess where I am going with this post is to any budding game developers who want to craft an online experience please make it so that people can keep in touch, message each other and generally build a community around the world you have built. It makes old worlds last forever.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
