Academic Gaming

So for those who haven’t really looked at academic stuff related to gaming you probably didn’t know this but in the academic world… gaming isn’t taken very seriously.

I’m talking about philosophers, scientists, psychologists the usual. Most view gaming as a negative thing that cause bad health effects to children. The most outrageous paper I encountered was to do with how gaming affected people’s sexuality!? Insanity. If I was to impose some new beliefs in the academic community and their general bias towards gaming I would show them the massive amount of statistics related to gaming revenue and popularity that make it rival or even outclass the film industry. Hell Destiny took $500 Million to make, more then any film has ever taken! I would also get rid of the archaic idea that gaming cause violence or mass shootings, psychologist may argue with me but I will always stand by the notion that gaming is simply a stress reliever. People who are mentally unstable are going to shoot people regardless if they have played games or not, they simply use it as an outlet to relieve stress or as a scapegoat so that they don’t get the whole blame. Until people realise this I will always have a lack of faith in regard to the academic gaming community.

Anyway enough of my rambling, what do you all think of this issue? let me know! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
