Well this came as a surprise to almost nobody, Rockstar have announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting it’s very own seperated online mode that they are calling ‘Red Dead Online’.
Similar to how they handled GTA Online this online portion of the western shooter will follow a completely new story with your own character and will see you fighting with other players, doing co-op missions and they have also stated include “the best bits and content packs from GTA Online”.
From what we can tell this means that they will take this in the same general direction that GTA Online went which I personally wasn’t a fan of due to the huge influx of microtransactions and DLC additions. I suppose at least they are seperating the single and multiplayer experience which should hopefully allow them to create a fantastic single player game while still making plenty of revenue from their continued support of the online version.
