Rythm to the Top!

Shame I don’t look anywhere nearly as cool as that when I play

If you are interested in the VR scene at all then you will have no doubt heard about Beat Saber which to my mind is still one of the best VR games available and easily the most successful unique concept for the platform. If you somehow don’t know then it’s essentially Guitar Hero mixed with lightsaber combat as you slice boxes that come at you to the rythm of the music playing in the background, such a fun game.

Well it’s good news for the Beat Saber team as they recently announced that they had shipped 4 Million copies of the game which is absolutely massive for a VR game of all things and I believe it also makes it the best selling VR game of all time. I believe that the main appeal in the game is actually the party aspect of it as many VR games are too focused on providing ‘experiences’ or complicated game mechanics rather than just allowing you to enjoy a core gameplay loop that is fun and easy to understand. Not only that but it’s also fun to watch as seeing your friends jump and flail about with 2 controllers while they think they look really cool is funny to watch.

With all the updates and releases the game has had over the years it’s a surefire success and I look forward to seeing how the game will develop over the coming years as VR becomes more accessible and the technology starts to become more mainstream…. or at least that’s what I keep trying to tell myself. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
