Protection

Who would know so much money goes through this UI

After writing about the loophole in Steam’s trading system not that long ago it seems as though Valve has implemented features to protect players from being scammed by people masking items using different games.

The new feature will act as a type of warning before you complete the trade in full. If the item is from a game you have never played before (such as the game Abstractism that I mentioned in my previous post) then Steam will automatically notify you of this fact. Because of this it will immediately ring alarm bells in people who are conducting this trade and thus help them to avoid being scammed.

It’s good to know that Valve were so quick to implement something like this to protect their users as being scammed out of so much money is a surefire way to ruin your virtual economy. They have also stated that they will take steps to give items back to those that have been taken advantage of. It seems as though Valve are stepping up and it makes me happy to see they aren’t just standing by and letting this happen. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
