Not Knowing

Is it just me or does the guy on the right look like a Hellghast?

Ea have gone and said something silly again, who would have thought it? Patrick Söderland, EA’s Chief Design Officer recently gave an interview to Gameindustry.biz about the release of their new entry in the Command and Conquer series, Rivals, and made the bold statement of saying that gamers don’t really know what they actually want.

Now yes this is true in some cases. Industry titans like Minecraft could never have possibly been predicted by interviewing gamers and focus testing groups and thus from previous research done on these things big games like that certainly have an air of mystery and uncertainty surrounding them thus allowing us to find it a surprising success despite us not saying we wanted it. I believe however that when it comes to established series such as the C&C games that the fans do actually know what is best for the franchise and that everything else is simply experimentation rather than knowing what players actually want.

I don’t know of Command and Conquer: Rivals will actually be a good game at all but what I do know is that if EA don’t decide to listen to what the fans actually want then you can consider this project dead in the water before it even arrives. That’s just my opinion though, what do you all think about this? Let us all know in the comment section! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
