Giving Back

Almost sounds like a cult…

If there is one thing you can say about Scott Cawthon, creator of the Five Night’s at Freddy’s series, it’s that he has a lot of passion for the universe he has created. The community surrounding the FNaF games has been rabid in their support for the unique horror franchise and they even have poured time and heart into making fan-games for the series too. Well Scott has decided to try and give back to the community that made him famous by announcing the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative.

This idea is essentially to provide monetary and marketing support for several big fan projects set in the same universe so that they can have a chance at making it into the big leagues just like Scott did, there’s even a full blown remake of the first game in the series here too. It’s emphasised that he won’t be involved in the development process so as to not influence the creative decisions of the game makers and instead just provide them a platform to develop and thrive.

It’s nice to see developers caring about their fans and in the Indie scene it’s certainly a lot more important. I wish all the creators the best of luck and I hope that this shines a bright light on the future of the series, ironic really considering the incredibly dark nature of the games. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
