Beta Boxer

I must say, Contessa is proving to be very meta!

During my time away on holiday I was lucky enough to return at the point in which the highly anticipated 3D fighting game Override: Mech City Brawl was beginning their closed beta, of which I was graciously invited to (I’ve hit it big everyone!).

How did I find the game? Chaotic fun to the maximum. At first it was a bit jarring as the controls were all for a gamepad rather than a mouse and keyboard and I didn’t even know that a lock-on feature existed. Nevertheless I persisted and eventually got to grips with the strange controls and boy did I have a lot of fun. There’s something cathartic about being a giant luchador fish mech and piledriving a mechagodzilla-like robot into the japanese cityscape and watching the buildings collapse around you in glorious fashion. While it did feel a bit too chaotic at times you have to keep in mind it was still a Beta and there are plenty of changes still to be made before the full game is released.

For me this seems like it could be a great 3D fighting game which could fill in the gap that the godzilla games had during my early years. Let’s just hope that it sells well as a fighting game with nobody playing it is a sad affair. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
