An MMO Classic

Oh man just look at those… uhh… graphics

With the release of WoW: Classic servers it seems as though other older MMO’s are looking to follow in the footsteps of the king of the genre and open their own original versions for people to play and remember the days of old.

Without a doubt one of the most interesting variations of this is the classic version of Everquest. For those that don’t know Everquest was one of the first and biggest MMO of it’s time being released back in the ancient era of 1999! Fittingly then Project 1999 is a fan-made server that is intending to set the game back to when it was first released and only have a couple of expansions installed to ensure that the classical Everquest core experience is kept for those that played it back in the day.

The project is ambitous sure however one good sign is the fact that the developers of Everquest have actually approved and fully support the creation of this fan-made creation which is wonderful to see. Companies nowadays have lost their touch when it comes to communication and goodwill with their fans so it’s good to see a project get fully supported despite it possibly eating into their modern day version’s profits. The server should actually be out today so if you played Everquest in the past then it might be fun to have a jump onto the server and take a leap back in time to see how things were.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
