With Gamescom already rushed by us we were finally shown the first trailer for the new piece of DOOM: Eternal single player DLC content, The Ancient Gods, part 1. Now that might come as a bit of a surprise to you as this is the firstg time we heard of this new piece of content being a two part DLC however it seems that the developers want this to rival the original campaign and will go into extensive effort to explain the origin of the Doom Slayer… even though I’m pretty sure that’s what the original campaign focused on a bit too much for my liking.
The new DLC will of course come with new enemies to fight, new bosses to boss around and more of a focus on the Celestial faction so this certainly will give DOOM fans plenty to be excited about. This will even be a standalone title so you don’t even need to own DOOM: Eternal to play it which is a nice touch though considering the story I would still say it’s quite mandatory to at least play through the original game. The first part is due to come out October 20th so if you want to see how the story of the Doom Slayer continues then mark your calendars for then.
