A Worrying Acquisition

Hmm…

More business news from inside the gaming industry, oh fun. If you’ve been keeping up to date in the Indie scene then perhaps you might have heard of Hypixel Studios who are a group looking to make an RPG competitor to Minecraft known as Hytale. Development has been fairly slow but the game itself looks very promising and many people are extremely excited to see how it turns out.

Well it seems as though business may actually be booming for them now as Riot Games, most famous for League of Legends, have recently acquired the studio and are now their parent company. Now for those who are familiar with Riot this actually might be fairly concerning as they have previously bought out studios before, stopped development on their games and absorbed the teams into their own development studios and this is generally agreed to be due to the fact that Riot aren’t a fan of games that can’t make large amount of profits (IE Non Live-Service Games) and as such will not try to keep such games afloat. Hytale it seems may come under that umbrella so it’s a concerning acquisition but let’s be positive about this and hope that the extra funding and resources turns out to make the game even better by the end.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
