The Completion Syndrome

Run Hat girl, Run!

I recently did something that I haven’t done in a long time, I completed a game to 100% completion. Of course it had to be A Hat in Time with how wonderful and charming it was but this is strangely unusual for me. I like playing games till the story ends but ignore extra things such as collectables and scavenger hunts but this time I found myself actually doing everything and collecting every single time piece.

It restablished the fact that despite me having done this I didn’t really get a reward for doing so. Sure I got a cool looking hat but aside from that I did this purely to have my profile say that I completed the game. The solid gameplay and the fun methods of just moving around were what brought me back to finish it fully and not many games have done that recently for me. It of course did help that the game was rather short but even if it was twice as long I would still find myself getting it all done, and I haven’t even tried any of the community made worlds yet. It seems as though I got my first taste of completionist syndrome, I wonder if the next game I play will have me doing the same.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
