Player Trading

Good old trading UI

It’s incredible to think that games have gained the ability to make their own private economies simply by having players trade between each other and set up values for virtual items. These thoughts came through my head as I started to trade the premium currency in Warframe and it provided me with another perspective on the idea of finance and how it works.

Truth be told economy at it’s very core is simply people agreeing to do things between each other in order to profit and thus video games provide a great space to show this. We all share a virtual world with items that if we give a value for we can make money off of it. It even spills into the real world with virtual items gaining real value that you can actually make a tangible profit off. It truly boggles the mind if you were an outsider looking in, seeing people buying gun skins for thousands of dollars and wondering what the point of it all really is.

Ultimately I just find the concept of player-driven economies fascinating and wanted to know what you all thought about them? Let me know in the comments! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
